Also called the garden city, Bangalore Metropolitan area is the third most populous city in India. Bangalore is the capital city of the Indian state Karnataka and is located in the south eastern part of Karnataka. In 1537 CE, Kempe Gowda-a feudatory ruler under the Vijaynagra Empire established a mud fort considered to be the foundation of modern Bangalore. The city has now become the icon of India’s information technology revolution, a major centre for multinational banking, finance and hospitality and an attractive destination for an upwardly mobile, tech savvy middle and upper class of citizens with multiple channels of connection to the global economy and culture. Bangalore’s IT industry is divided into three main clusters viz. Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB) and Electronics city. Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) supply adequate water to the city total 1310MLD. Solid waste disposal in Bangalore is approximately 2200 tons. But the waste treatment is an matter of concern. Drainage is also not up to the mark here with the growth of the city, the number of lakes has reduced to 64 from 400 small lakes and tank beds have vanished because of encroachment and construction activity. Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation is in charge of the city. Bangalore’s rapid growth has created several problems relating to traffic congestion and infrastructural obsolescence encroachments on the storm water drains are chocking. Also 98% of the lakes in Bangalore are encroached by mafia. Housing societies in the locality have mushroomed on channels that used to drain excess rainwater with the result the locality got severely affected due to recent floods. As capital of the state of Karnataka, Bangalore houses the Karnataka High Court the Vidhana Soudha and Raj Bhavan. The city is well connected by railway and air with the country. Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation operates buses in the city which is reliable means of public transport system and training institutions and has about 80% literally rate. The lung of the city is Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. The garden was originally commissioned by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore and later finished by his son Tipu Sultan. Lalbagh is a 240acres garden and is located in south of Bangalore the garden has over 1000 species of flora and has tress that are over 100 years old. Plants obtained from various parts of the world, since its inception in 1760 of many artistic structures like Glass House is the most famous and is in the form of a diamond. The Bandstand, Lecture Hall, Lalbagh House, Pigeon House, statue of Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar, the Directorate Building, the Museum. Lalbagh Botanical Garden is located in the heart of city about 4km from the state legislature –Vidhan Soudha.
