The Maharashtra Department of Registration and Stamps has issued two critical updates impacting users and stakeholders involved in property registration, stamp duty payments, and other related processes. These instructions are intended to inform the public about an upcoming temporary downtime for system migration, as well as an update to the e-Registration URL. These changes are part of Maharashtra’s ongoing efforts to improve its digital infrastructure for registration and stamp duty services.
System Downtime Due to Cloud Migration
To enhance the stability and efficiency of its digital services, the Maharashtra State Treasury has scheduled a cloud migration from October 26, 2024, 12:01 AM to October 29, 2024, 11:59 PM. During this migration period, the Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS) portal will be temporarily inaccessible, affecting essential services across the Department of Registration and Stamps.
According to the Department, the following services will be unavailable during the migration period:
- Challan Generation: Users will not be able to generate challans for payment processing.
- Payment Verification: Verification of payment receipts will be temporarily disabled.
- Document Defacement: Stamp defacement, essential for document validation, will not be operational.
This downtime will impact the registration process in all Integrated Government Receipt (IGR) applications, meaning property registrations and other related processes will be on hold until the system resumes full functionality. The Department advises citizens and businesses to plan their transactions around these dates to avoid potential delays.
New e-Registration URL Effective from November 5, 2024
In addition to the temporary downtime, the Maharashtra Department of Registration and Stamps has announced an update to its e-Registration portal URL. Beginning November 5, 2024, at 12:00 AM, users are requested to access the e-Registration services through the updated URL: https://eregistration.igrmaharashtra.gov.in/. This update aims to improve user experience and system security for online registrations.
The Department’s e-Registration portal provides a range of services, including online document registration, stamp duty payment, and property transaction tracking. The new URL is expected to bring enhanced functionality and streamlined access, supporting Maharashtra’s vision of a more accessible and efficient registration process for citizens and businesses alike.
Planning Ahead: Ensuring Smooth Transition
Citizens and businesses who rely on Maharashtra’s registration and stamping services are advised to take note of these updates and adjust their schedules accordingly. For those planning property transactions or other document registrations around late October, it is recommended to complete them before the downtime to avoid disruptions.
