The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has issued a new circular dated 27 November 2024, extending the timeline for appointing Co-Developers for the development of plots in Information Technology Parks. This initiative aims to promote industrial growth in the IT/ITES sector and expedite the development of plots allocated within Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Details of the Extension

As per the circular, the deadline for appointing Co-Developers has been extended for two additional years, from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. This is a continuation of similar extensions provided earlier, including the circular dated 9 February 2023, which extended the deadline to 31 March 2024.

The original provisions for appointing Co-Developers were outlined in the MIDC circular dated 25 November 2020. These extensions are intended to provide industrialists in the IT and ITES sectors with additional time to collaborate with Co-Developers, thereby facilitating the rapid development of allotted plots and encouraging economic activity in SEZs.

Encouraging IT and ITES Development

The circular emphasizes MIDC’s commitment to fostering the IT and ITES industries by offering flexibility and support to plot holders. By allowing more time to appoint Co-Developers, MIDC aims to:

  • Accelerate the pace of plot development within SEZs.
  • Encourage partnerships that bring innovation and efficiency to projects.
  • Enhance the economic potential of IT Parks in Maharashtra.
