The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) has solidified its position as a frontrunner in the Indian real estate sector when it comes to consumer grievance redressal. Since its inception, UPRERA has registered 58,545 complaints under Section 31 of the RERA Act, representing a remarkable 39% of all such complaints filed across India.
Unmatched Case Disposal Performance
UPRERA has successfully resolved 50,812 cases, achieving a disposal rate of 85.20% — the highest among all states. This demonstrates the authority’s ability to process grievances efficiently and provide timely relief to aggrieved homebuyers. In 2025 alone, UPRERA received 2,394 fresh complaints, out of which 1,810 cases have already been disposed of, reinforcing its reputation for speed and efficiency.
Boosting Consumer Confidence in Key Urban Hubs
Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy highlighted that UPRERA’s efficient grievance redressal mechanism has significantly boosted homebuyer confidence, particularly in real estate-intensive districts such as Gautam Budh Nagar, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, and Meerut. These areas collectively account for a major share of Uttar Pradesh’s real estate transactions and housing demand.
Commitment to Transparency and Accountability
According to Mr. Bhoosreddy, UPRERA’s high disposal rate is a direct result of its mission to protect homebuyers, ensure transparency in project execution, and hold promoters accountable for delays, quality issues, and other violations. The authority continues to promote time-bound justice by leveraging digital platforms, e-hearings, and proactive follow-up mechanisms that keep cases moving without undue delay.
National Model for Real Estate Dispute Resolution
With its stellar record, UPRERA has emerged as a model RERA authority for other states to emulate. Its success not only reassures homebuyers but also contributes to a healthier, more transparent real estate ecosystem where developers are encouraged to adhere to regulatory norms.
As the real estate market in Uttar Pradesh continues to expand, UPRERA’s role in balancing consumer protection with industry growth will remain pivotal. The authority aims to sustain its high disposal rate and introduce more digital tools to make grievance redressal even faster and more accessible.
