In a bid to improve transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business in the real estate sector, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has announced the launch of its revamped Project Application Portal, which will go live on May 5, 2025. The new system will cater to the registration of housing projects, extension of existing registrations, and corrections or updates to project-related data.
New Portal for Project Applications from May 5
The newly upgraded portal is part of MahaRERA’s continuous efforts to streamline developer interactions, enhance data accuracy, and support faster approvals. From May 5 onwards, all new applications for project registration, extensions, and corrections must be submitted through the new portal.
However, developers who have already applied for registration, extensions, or corrections through the existing system do not need to reapply. Their requests will continue to be processed in the current system as per the usual protocols, ensuring no disruption for ongoing applications.
No Impact on Homebuyers or Agents
MahaRERA clarified that the new portal is exclusively for developers and promoters. The current interface and application process for homebuyers and real estate agents will remain unchanged.
Mandatory Profile Updates for Developers
In light of the system overhaul, MahaRERA has urged all registered developers and promoters to update their profiles with accurate and complete information. This will help facilitate faster approval of project applications, reduce delays, and avoid repeated clarifications or rejections due to incomplete data.
Developers intending to enter the real estate sector must also create their profiles afresh on the new portal. There will be no charges for profile creation or updation.
With thousands of real estate projects in the pipeline and stricter scrutiny under RERA regulations, maintaining a seamless and error-free application system is crucial. MahaRERA’s move is expected to:
-
Enhance compliance and transparency
-
Minimize application errors
-
Reduce processing delays
-
Support digitally-driven governance
Accurate and updated developer profiles also allow authorities to verify credentials swiftly, reducing risks of misinformation and enhancing the credibility of project approvals.
-
Continue using the existing system if an application is already under process.
-
From May 5, use the new portal for any fresh applications.
-
Update profile details on the MahaRERA website to reflect accurate and current information.
-
Encourage backend and legal teams to review and ensure compliance with new procedural requirements.
