The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) inaugurated its 21st Real Estate Agent Training Programme in Lucknow, marking another significant step toward enhancing professionalism, ethical conduct, and transparency in the real estate sector. The four-day programme is being held at the Indian Literacy Board, bringing together real estate agents, legal experts, and regulatory officials.

Inauguration by UP RERA and REAT Chairpersons

The event was inaugurated by Justice Suneet Kumar, Chairperson of the Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (REAT), and Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Chairperson of UP RERA, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp to commence the training.

In his opening remarks, Sanjay Bhoosreddy emphasized the pivotal role of real estate agents in the property ecosystem, describing promoters, agents, and RERA as the “three integral pillars” of the real estate sector. He highlighted that their collective responsibility is to protect consumer investments and ensure transparency across all transactions.

Focus on Professional Ethics and Legal Knowledge

Bhoosreddy underlined the importance of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) in promoting accountability and consumer trust. He said the training programme aims to equip agents with a deeper understanding of RERA and related laws governing property transactions.

“Agents must familiarize themselves with the Apartment Ownership Act, Contract Act, and Transfer of Property Act, and should ensure that they only share verified information from the RERA portal with clients,” he said.

He further informed participants that passing the final exam is mandatory for certification. Agents who successfully complete the course will receive a training certificate and become eligible for online registration under UP RERA.

Building Consumer Confidence and Trust

Bhoosreddy stressed that RERA’s role extends beyond regulation—it serves as a protector of consumer interests and a facilitator of long-term trust in the real estate market. “Our goal is to empower every stakeholder—promoters, agents, and buyers—through transparency and knowledge,” he stated.

He also encouraged agents to actively use the UP RERA Agent Portal to access project information and updates to help consumers make informed decisions.

Justice Suneet Kumar’s Call for Transparency

Delivering the keynote address, Justice Suneet Kumar highlighted that RERA acts as a bridge between consumers, promoters, and agents, ensuring smoother communication and greater accountability.

He urged agents to uphold honesty, transparency, and integrity in their dealings. “Agents often face difficulties due to incorrect or misleading information. To avoid such issues, they must personally verify project details and ensure buyers receive accurate and factual updates,” Justice Kumar advised.

He reiterated that maintaining transparency and adhering to ethical practices would not only strengthen consumer trust but also enhance the credibility of agents in the real estate market.

Expert Sessions and Legal Guidance

The training programme includes interactive sessions led by UP RERA officials, legal experts, and real estate professionals. Key topics being covered include:

  • Understanding and implementing the RERA Act, 2016

  • Ethical conduct and consumer relationship management

  • Proper use of the UP RERA Agent Portal

  • Procedures for registration, documentation, and compliance

These sessions aim to ensure that participants not only gain theoretical knowledge but also learn practical aspects of compliance and service excellence.

Raising Standards Across the Real Estate Sector

Through this initiative, UP RERA seeks to elevate industry standards, reduce consumer disputes, and encourage responsible conduct among real estate agents. The authority’s consistent training programmes underscore its commitment to capacity building and sustainable growth of the real estate sector in Uttar Pradesh.

By focusing on education, transparency, and accountability, UP RERA continues to set a benchmark for real estate regulation and consumer protection in India.
