The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has achieved yet another milestone with Real Estate Agent Registrations surpassing the 50,000 mark. This development closely follows the registration of over 50,000 housing projects with the authority, reinforcing Maharashtra’s dominant position in India’s regulated real estate market.
Agents Registered from Across India
Interestingly, the registrations are not limited to Maharashtra alone. Agents from over 150 cities across India—including New Delhi, Gurgaon, Prayagraj, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Patna, Goa, and Jammu—have registered with MahaRERA. This reflects the widespread influence of Maharashtra’s real estate market and the integral role played by these agents in facilitating transactions between developers and homebuyers, even across state lines.
Current Statistics of Agent Registrations
As of May 19, 2025, a total of 50,673 real estate agents are registered with MahaRERA. Out of these:
-
31,980 registrations are active
-
18,693 have been de-registered due to reasons such as failure to obtain the mandatory certification or non-renewal of licenses

Why Certification and Regulation Matter
MahaRERA mandates that all real estate agents must be trained and certified. The agents are required to understand key provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, including topics like the Model Sale Agreement, Carpet Area, Allotment Letter, and Defect Liability Period. This ensures consistency and clarity in property transactions and protects the interests of homebuyers.
A significant number of de-registrations (18,693 agents) occurred because of non-compliance—either due to not completing the mandatory certification or not renewing their registration with MahaRERA.
Conclusion
The registration of over 50,000 agents marks a crucial step in building a transparent and regulated real estate ecosystem in Maharashtra. MahaRERA’s stringent monitoring and mandatory certification not only enhance consumer trust but also raise the professional standards of agents operating in one of India’s most active property markets.
