Homebuyers across India will soon have a more efficient way to access details about housing projects and builders, thanks to a new initiative aimed at standardizing the websites and IT platforms of all Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (RERAs). This move will enhance transparency in the real estate sector and help buyers make informed decisions before purchasing properties.
A Centralized Digital Platform for Homebuyers
Currently, every state RERA has its own website with different layouts, making it difficult for buyers to navigate and retrieve necessary project information. Moreover, buyers need to visit multiple state RERA websites separately to check details about projects and builders across different regions. The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, in collaboration with the All India Forum of Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (AIFORERA), is working towards a uniform IT platform that will provide standardized information on all RERA-registered projects across the country.

Anand Kumar, Chairman of AIFORERA and Delhi RERA, emphasized that this initiative would simplify data retrieval for both consumers and regulatory authorities. He stated, “This will help buyers access the necessary information easily. It will also assist regulatory authorities in retrieving data for better implementation of the law.”
Abhay Upadhyaya, a member of the government’s Central Advisory Council, welcomed the move but suggested that the platform should display all projects under a developer’s group rather than just individual projects. He pointed out that many builders form Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for separate projects, and some of them may have poor track records. “Unless all project details are transparently displayed under the builder’s group, homebuyers cannot make fully informed decisions,” he said.
RERA Registration and Data Tracking
Under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, all housing and commercial projects must be registered with RERA, and their progress is continuously tracked. Authorities monitor project completion timelines, granted extensions, and compliance with regulations. Interlinking all state RERAs into a single platform will not only help buyers but also ensure builders adhere to regulatory requirements.
